Vallee des Aldudes

In basque language, Aldudes comes from “Aldu Uda“ which means “on the tops of the right side“. This is one of the different meanings about the origin of that name but there are others.
After the long and narrow corridor coming from Baïgorry and after crossing the first village of Banca, you reach “Les Aldudes“. While arriving, the first moutain pass you can see, called “Lepheder“ (which means “the nice pass“), is a very famous wild pigeons hunting place of the Pyrenees. The technics used are very special, traditionnal and amazing to see. The crests all around which also represent the borders with Spain, offer several monolith representations from the first and very old populations. The youngs originally from Baïgorry succeeded in creating a new community in the valley valorising the lands with repect for the futur generations.
